Trevor Hall

Raised on an island in South Carolina, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion – it was his life’s art. At sixteen, he recorded his first album. Shortly after, Hall left South Carolina for Idyllwild Arts Academy in California where he studied classical guitar and was introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music.

Hall’s music, a blend of roots and folk music with touches of electronic elements, is imbued with a deep love of Eastern Mysticism. This powerful symbiosis fostered a deep connectivity with his growing fan base and Trevor quickly matured into a leader of the burgeoning conscious musical community. Along with numerous pilgrimages to India, he has sold out the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado as a headliner and he also completed a series of sold-out international tours with artists such as Ziggy Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Franti, John Butler Trio, Matisyahu and Brett Dennen.

Dirtwire

Dirtwire stands poised between ancient Mother Earth and modern technology, a blend of ethnomusicology and the psychedelic trance state, gut-bucket delta blues and what the band variously dubs “back-porch space cowboy blues, swamptronica, and electro-twang.” It’s a sound informed by Dirtwire’s travels and performances around the globe, where East meets West and North joins South. From the favelas in Brazil, Femi Kuti’s Shrine in Lagos, Tokyo’s bluegrass clubs, Ayahuasca ceremonies in Central America, Gamelan performances in Bali, desert festivals in the Australian Outback, and the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s modernized new capital Astana, the band spreads its message by building bridges across musical cultures in their own unique way. Dirtwire plays an array of instruments both ancient and modern, including West African kamale ngonis, jaw harps, space fiddles, whamola basses, Rickenbacher electric 12 string guitars, bowed Banjos and mouth harps from around the globe, all interwoven into modern laptop beat creation. Hailing from the underground west coast electronic bass music scene Dirtwire finds itself at the forefront of experimental electronic music production mixing in their wide array of world instruments with sampled beats and 808’s. Dirtwire’s live shows are a communal psychedelic journey, which have been channeled into their latest full-length effort, Electric River.

Electric River explores Dirtwire’s ritualistic practice of taking psilocybin mushrooms and conjuring musical transmissions from other dimensions. From the seeds of their self titled first album, all the way through Electric River, Dirtwire has cultivated a relationship with psychedelic mushrooms as a way to amplify the band’s creative expression. The album cover, by artist and friend Carey Thompson, depicts a representation of Maria Sabina, a southern Mexican shaman from the Sierra Mazatec. Sabina is acknowledged as the first person to popularize mind-altering mushrooms in the ‘50s and ’60s, after being introduced to the west by noted ethnomycologist Gordon Wasson in 1955. “It’s our homage to the feminine origin of the psychedelic movement,” says Mark Reveley, noting the ambient ethereal song on the album named after her. “That’s a huge part of our creative inspiration,” says David Satori. “We feel it opens up a door to connecting to the elusive great mystery of life, in a different and more profound way. Our senses are heightened to the infinite potential of sound.” “The key is to make sure everything is plugged in before you drink the magic tea,” laughs Evan Fraser.

FRIDAY PRE-PARTY

Reed Grimm

Reed started his musical journey in a way that very few people do. His parents, Steve Grimm and Colleen Raye, were the male and female lead singers of a traveling variety act that entertained people in resorts, casinos, state fairs, and lounges from coast to coast. As the couple had children, they added them to the show…and at the age of 2, Reed took the stage. His primary instrument continued to be the voice until his 12th birthday where he received his first drum set. Everyday after school his garage became his arena. Headphones on he played along with music he had heard throughout his life, gaining him the skills to join the middle school jazz band where he started playing with others for the first time. This sparked a love of jazz music that would land him as one of two drummers to play in the Wisconsin State Honors Jazz Band his senior year of high school. After high school he chose to attend college at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where he was recruited to play in the top jazz band while persuing a degree in Percussion Performance. While in La Crosse he was scouted by regionally known horn band “Three Beers til’ Dubuque” to be their lead singer, giving him his first sense of professional performance outside of his family’s band. He went on to cofound other groups, most notably the band in which he started writing original music, Shoeless Revolution. Not only did Shoeless bring a first in writing music for Reed, it was also where he began lead singing from the drum set. Shoeless Revolution went on to release two original albums “Speak Up” and “From the Inside Out” touring until 2011 when an unsuspecting call from his older sister Jennifer changed the course of his life. On the phone she told him that she won a singing contest to get her to the front of the line for an American Idol audition, but she had missed the age requirements for the show. She was able to transfer the ticket to one person and chose Reed. After graciously accepting, he went to an audition which got him onto the show and propelled him to Live Television where he ended #14 on season 11 in 2012. The aftermath of his American Idol experience brought Reed many opportunities to travel and perform for concertgoers around the world including multiple trips overseas to entertain members of the US Military. His desire to continue to write music grew, and with the help of a successful Kickstarter he released his debut solo album “Reminders” in April of 2018.

Dacota Muckey & The Trip

Dacota Muckey is a singer/songwriter/jam-band-frontman from Indianapolis, Indiana. He began playing and writing music at about 12 years old. Equipped with an acoustic guitar and a passion to live a life on stage, he immediately joined a local band and hasn’t stopped performing since. Some of his influences range from old school legends such as Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix to newer artists such as Trevor Hall, Alt-J, and Dermot Kennedy.

Through dealing with childhood trauma and molestation, coming to grips with his sexuality, and battling drug addiction that resulted in multiple life threatening seizures, Dacota discovered his gift for music as a coping mechanism along his troubled path. Refusing to claim victimhood, he journeyed inward to reflect, heal, and openly share his story so others who’ve traveled similar paths don’t feel so alone.

From songs like “This Is the Music That Heals Your Soul” to “Life Is Incredible”, you can hear how Dacota has turned his darkness into brightly shining insight through his soulful musical expression. The new project, set to be released in late 2020, helps listeners explore the darker side of life and fully embrace the spectrum of human experience.  His vocals are dynamic with a bit of rasp, inspiring one music critic to declare, “when Dacota Muckey sings you can hear a bit of pain being released.” This accounts for the way his voice grips those who hear it, plunging them into the depth of self that gave rise to who Dacota is today.

Sierra Marin and The Shepherds of Ascension

Sierra Marin comes from San Diego, Ca and currently lives on the Big Island of Hawaii.   After receiving her Bachelore’s degree at UC Santa Barbara in Psychology and Indigenous Studies, Sierra realized that working toward something that she did not believe in in support of a corrupt system in need of change was completely contrary to who she was. So after college she hit the road. Finding much of her roots in street performing, she travelled the U.S. for two years entirely supported by  her income from playing at markets and on street corners. She experienced first hand the incredible power of intentional music to free and heal humanity.

Sierra uses her voice to speak for the Earth mother, for the ascension of humanity into a state of harmony. She speaks for the revolution of unconditional love which begins within and ripples out into this world. She speaks of the importance of community, permaculture, and symbiotic innovation for the betterment of all.

Music is medicine for the soul and a powerful tool for our liberation as individuals as well as for the entire planet. Sierra Marin’s mission is to remind humanity of their divinity and perfection. To remind the people that WE are the ones we’ve been waiting for. It’s up to us to remember who we are and to be the change we want to see in this world.
